Orchard Residential Care
Our Residential Unit is Dublin based and provides placements for five young people aged between 12 - 17 years old. We offer short term and long term placements and all young people are welcome. We can also cater for sibling groups should the need arise. Each young person has there own room and the communal living spaces are bright and spacious. There is a large garden and young people are encouraged to take part in leisure activities.
This Unit as known as The Orchard. It provides a structured safe environment for our young people. This is achieved through clear boundaries and safe routines for the young people. Each young person has an individual care plan which is drawn up in consultation with them and other agencies involved, as well as parents/ carers.
The objectives of the placement are to provide strategies to intervene in patterns of behaviour within a fixed term contract. These strategies will reflect an intensive problem focused assessment of behavioural problems, a hypothesis for the underlying psychological causes and proposed treatment strategy for both the short-term and long-term.
Each young person has a Keyworker, who co-ordinates all aspects of their care throughout the young person placements. Incorporated in this placement are comprehensive assessments on the young person as well as using behaviour management techniques to help the young person develop age appropriate coping skills for difficult situations. Weekly progress reports are provided for Social Workers and final placement report is prepared on discharge. Young people are encouraged to contribute their views on the running of the unit through regular residents meeting.
The unit is fully registered and achieved registration for a 3 year period. The unit is regularly inspected by Registration and Inspection. We are guided by this organisation and maintain The Orchard under the guidelines set by the National Standards and relevant legislation.
