During the weekend there will be 2 Special events for family members
Dunmore East Adventure Centre have organised a sea kayaking session on Saturday afternoon. No previous experience needed. Opportunity to explore the beaches and coves around the sailing club and admire the stunning views of cliffs and woods.
There will be a special rate of €30 per session. It’s essential that places are booked by Wednesday 21st. Phone 051 383 783 or email . See for details of their facilities.
The Dunmore East tourism group run a rambling festival in May each year with walks around the village and surrounding areas.
The group are organising a walk through the village followed by the spectacular marked walk along the cliff top. A local historian will give insight into the history, flora and fauna, delivered with thoughtful insights and humour. The walk is approximately 2.5 hours and suitable for most fitness levels. The walk will start at the sailing club on Sunday at 11.00am

WHSC in cooperation with Adventure Centre is organizing a display of all water activities on Sunday between 13.00 and 14.00 hrs.
Get in touch with your Instructor, Class Captain, to see how you can participate in these activities. All boats , kayaks, dinghy’s, cruisers, ribs are urged to participate to promote Dunmore East as a water sports centre and promote the club. After the display activities for each group on the water and of course the annual Cruiser Club Championships will take place.
Lifeboat ,helicopter & coast guard display for all to enjoy.
All must wear buoyancy aids, life jackets etc. according to club rules (special checks will take place by the coast guard). Boats must be early on the water to avoid congestion on the slip.
Dinghy Sailors. The Prolines Match Racing League will run on Tuesdays in July. To enter your team, call or text Charlie 087 2224475. Numbers are limited.
The 1st South East Inter-Schools Regatta took place at the club on Friday 13th May. A great day was had by all in excellent sailing conditions. 10 teams from 7 schools battled it out for the Walsh Inter-Schools Perpetual Cup, generously contributed by Nicky and Maria Walsh.
Kilkenny College, with four teams in action, came 1st and 3rd. St Augustines ’A' took 2nd place.
John Flynn (St Augustines) won the prize for best individual with Georgina Corbett (Kilkenny College) 2nd and Ruairi Finnegan (Newtown) 3rd.
Thank you to Race Officer, Nicky Walsh, and to all who helped both on and off the water to make the day such a huge success. We look forward to welcoming the schools back next year. This is an event that will grow and grow.

The sailing season got off to a great start on Saint Patrick’s Day with a strong turnout for the annual Sail & Run. The overall prize went to the father/son duo Des and Dean Whelan. Top sailor was Kirsten MacDermot who won convincingly in light conditions. The junior prize went to Katie Landers who got back to the slip in no time to give her Dad, Rob, a super head start in the run!
