Parents,

As experienced instructors are available and safety boats are on the water, we have decided to run Extra Sailing Courses on the week starting Monday 25th July. We feel there might be teenagers in the club who have finished many of the levels and would like an opportunity to get on the water and improve / practice their sailing skills.

Course C:  Sailing Development Week

This course will offer sailors double handed boat handling and race training in the club 420’s and in Mirror dinghies.
The 420 is an established performance two person trapeze and spinnaker racing dinghy. There are 56,000 worldwide. This popular dinghy is sailed at school, club, open, national and international levels. The 420 is a youth development boat in Ireland.
We are delighted to announce that we have 4 racing spec 420’s at the club. This represents an exciting opportunity for students to bring their sailing on to another level
Students on this course will

  • Learn the principles of double handed boat handling
  • Improve trapeze and spinnaker work
  • Practice line starts and other racing fundamentals
  • Learn to match race

Course D:    Fun Sailing Week

This course will allow young sailors get more time on the water and make the most of the summer season at the club. Students on this course will have the option to practice and perfect their sailing skills with the support of coaching and safety boat. All will get an opportunity to sail in the Club Omegas.

Course E:   Catch Up Course

This course  will allow students to catch up on modules for next year. This is an express course for those anxious to advance up the framework ladder and will allow an older sailor to advance with his/her age group.
