There has been a huge increase in number of young, under 20, crew members in the cruiser sailing fleet. Their interest and skill will ensure that the cruiser racing fleet, including White sails, will flourish and continue to expand. The aim of the “Best All Round Youth Crew Member” is to encourage and mark in some way the achievments of the various youth crew members during the year.
It is up to the skippers and regular crew to help and encourage the younger members, to teach skills, tactics and generally give them opportunities to try different positions.

Two days of great weather and steady (if not a little light) breeze made for a very enjoyable cruiser regatta this August bank holiday weekend. Shane Statham put in an almost flawless performance to take the first place trophy for class 1. Second place in class 1 went to Ciaran McGrath, Adam Doyle, and the crew of Lady J.
The whitesail fleet was popular as ever for this event where David Marchant and his crew took the first place trophy. Second place went to Paddy Kyne and his crew on Maximus.
Thanks to all who took part and helped out over the two days.

Just a few short notes on cruiser racing…
The season is well and truly under way with the first trophy race already decided. Congratulations to Nicola Harris on winning the Lady Helm trophy. Light, shifty winds made for an interesting, if not long race on Sunday but in the end it was Nicola at the helm of Lady J who took the prize. Well done to all those who took part.
