This season, any opponents taking to the pitch against Ballinhassig’s GAA teams had better beware - rather than sitting on their backsides watching TV all winter, a group of these players decided to get involved in their local Warrior Tae Kwon Do club.

On Saturday December 11th 2011, Master Clive Harrison (7th Dan) presented a seminar for members and friends of Warrior Tae Kwon Do at Clonakilty Community Hall.

Second Year C.I.T. (Cork institute of Technology) and Warrior Tae Kwon Do student, Dwayne Crowley was recently awarded a senior bursary by the C.I.T Sports Board for his consistent achievements in Tae Kwon Do over the years. Two Warrior students were in action at the recent I.U.T.F Celtic Cup. The event took place in Neptune stadium, Cork city on the 13th of November. The competition was a two day event with only the black belts in action on Saturday. Dwayne Crowley was first up in the senior black belt non-sinewave patterns section. [..]

A team of 10 students from Warrior Tae Kwon Do travelled to Dublin over the weekend to compete in the All Ireland Open Tae Kwon Do Championships held in the Moran’s Hotel Convention Centre. This was an open event, which attracted teams from all over Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland.

With Dan & Barry O’Mahony both required to officiate and work on the day of the regular annual Black Belt exams being held on the Sunday, it was decided that they would take their examinations, for 5th & 4th Dan respectively, on the Saturday instead, immediately prior to Master Harrison’s seminar.

The club, which first opened in January 2006, has grown in numbers dramatically in the past 5 years, with a variety of classes available to students of all ages including Junior Tae Kwon Do, Senior Tae Kwon Do and. The weekend of November 19th-20th was one of the busiest yet for the instructors of Warrior Martial Arts, with a seminar and two sets of Black Belt examinations scheduled for the same weekend.
