IT was ten minutes of breeze-up investment when, first, Joe Foley of Ballyhane Stud spent €35,000 on lot 469, a son of Amadeus Wolf, followed up Eddie O’Leary of Lynn Lodge, who went to €45,000 to buy a colt by Authorized.
“He is a gorgeous horse,” said Foley of the Amadeus Wolf colt. “I thought he was the best individual of the day. He will go back home and will join my wife Jane’s breeze-up division. Rathbarry is such a good farm to buy from ”
While that colt was pin-hooked by Rathbarry for €17,000, it was a first visit to the sales ring for the O’Leary purchase. It won’t be the last for the colt with a spring’s breeze-up date on his agenda.
“I like his sire, he has done well from limited opportunites so far,” said O’Leary of the colt, a half-brother to Ibiscus, a Listed-placed, nine-time winner in Italy. He is from the extended family of Rainbow Quest and was sold by The Castlebridge Consignment.
Underidders on the Amadeus Wolf colt was David Ryan, who was standing with Peter Kelly of Emerald Bloodstock, while John Cullinan and John Joesph Murphy were the thwarted parties on the Authorized.
