Nurture Development offers services that are informed by an alternative approach whereby the assets of communities are identified, connected and mobilised.
Our services include:
We draw on the community organising model that is successfully employed throughout the United States and Canada and is quickly gaining momentum in Europe. The Carnegie Trust in the UK has endorsed the community organising model as one of the most sustainable approaches to community development in Ireland and the U.K. while the Dutch government has already invested €95 million in the last year in support of communities who use this model. Dublin City Council have also adopted the model as their preferred approach to community development in the city.
Community organising has been shown to be successful as a means of mobilising greater citizen engagement and better partnerships between citizens and state funded agencies and the third sector.
Nurture Development have developed a range of asset-based initiatives which in turn are generating some of the most innovative solutions to anti-social behaviour, street level crime, regeneration and the social inclusion of older and younger people. Additionally, we are actively working with groups to develop practical economic development responses to growing unemployment as well as sourcing alternatives to state funding.
