Training for parents and the whole school community
A national programme of training for all members of Boards of Management has been agreed by all patron bodies, the INTO and the National Parents Council (Primary).
The overall aim of this programme is to help parents or guardians in their role in parenting their children to have healthy friendships and relationships at home and in their personal lives.
The aim of the training is to raise awareness of parents as partners in the primary education system.
NPC in partnership with the National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB) have developed a training programme for parents, principals, and the board members on developing a code of behaviour.
Parents often admire how easily their children can use the Internet – but aren’t quite sure of what they are doing or seeing. National Parents Council Primary working with the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE) have developed a seminar to take the mystery out of the Internet for parents and to give them the skills to engage with their children’s online lives.
This training is aimed at parents whose child is in 5th of 6th class or has just moved from primary to post primary education.
