First and Second Year students took part in a Gaelic Football blitz in Thomastown GAA grounds on Thursday, 22 April. The day was sunny and bright and provided perfect conditions for football. Their first match pitched them against Duiske College, Graiguenamanagh, who had already beaten a fancied Thomastown team. Both teams were evenly matched and swapped the lead a few times before Duiske won out by a single point!! Their second match came against Thomastown and turned out to be a thriller with quality point taking from our boys being a feature of the game. A fortuitous goal from Thomastown brought the teams level and this turned out to be the final score. Our final opponents from Kilkenny City VEC proved to be too strong and took an early lead. A spirited comeback in the second half was not enough to overcome this but augured well for the future in this code. The panel was captained by Seán Walsh who gave his all in all games. The full panel were involved in the three games and include Adam Skehan, Michael Dunne, Niall Flynn, Craig Kennington, Dubhaltach McDonagh, Francis O Brien and Kyle Walsh from Second year. While Richard Brophy, Shane Cowwman, Aaron Power, Brandon Power, Josh Power, Ryan Power and Walter Walsh represented First Year. Well done to all involved.
