The Media Group is a specialist communications company defined by the maturity of its counsel. We are different to others because, quite simply, others don't have our experience. When you deal with The Media Group you deal with the same people all the time. They acquire a detailed understanding and perspective on your issues and requirements and can therefore be pro-active in making proposals, far beyond communications, that will enhance your business or service.
We offer full service communications advice including regular PR, speech and article writing, advice on issues relating to Government, the Houses of the Oireachtas, European Union, national and local politics, public affairs issues, media training, event organisation and sponsorship advice. We work in partnership with expert associates in design, print, photography and advertising, to deliver an integrated and comprehensive communications service.
The Media Group can devise imaginative, practical and effective communications strategies to meet any client needs and to reach any defined target audience. We manage all projects from conception through execution to assessment and review.
Public affairs and lobbying
We have an exceptional understanding of 'how Ireland works', internally and in a European context, how the most effective interventions can be made to inform decision makers and influencers of a clients view point, while at all times adhering to the highest ethical standards.
We also offer a full litigation support service to clients involved in media sensitive legal matters.
Public consultation and community relations
We devise and organise public information, consultation and awareness campaigns that allow our clients explain their activities and plans in a pro-active way to build support and buy-in while limiting negative reactions and mis-information at the earliest stage. Our work in this field was uniquely cited by an Irish Times editorial as an example of best practice in public consultation.
We have years of experience working with the media and have excellent working relationships with key people in national and regional print, broadcast and electronic media.
We know and understand the media – we interact with them on a daily basis and have years of experience of dealing with its increasing diversity. We can offer advice based on personal knowledge of most senior journalists. We can handle material on and off the record as required and can help place stories, articles and opinion pieces where they will have maximum impact.
We manage communications issues for organisations going through change, sometimes painful, but at all times ensuring that all staff are kept informed of change, remain motivated and involved and minimising any potential disruption to our client companies.
Our media training is particularly good, so much so that other PR companies use our courses. No one has two days to learn how to handle the media, especially when it should only take half a day. That's what we do. We train in interview techniques for TV, radio, print, public speaking, presentations and importantly job or promotion interviews.
A poorly handled crisis can destroy a company or individual's reputation – just ask Toyota. We work with clients to put contingency plans in place and conduct pre-crisis training so procedures and processes are clear for media relations, internal communications, stakeholder information and spokesperson allocation. When an unprepared for crisis breaks, we work side by side with the company or individual until it is resolved. We have considerable experience in both public and private sector crisis management with successful outcomes.
Roy Dooney has written speeches for a former Taoiseach and other Ministers, published two non-fiction books, research reports and articles. He is a specialist in the preparation of newsletters and publicity material. In recent years The Media Group has prepared the annual University College Dublin (UCD) President's Report , prepared a history of the construction of Dun Laoghaire Harbour using archive material and prepared numerous brochures and leaflets for community involvement in planning and development proposals.
We organise events of all kinds - conferences, launches, exhibitions, media launches, among others – in all sorts of venues. We pride ourselves in coming up with imaginative and stimulating locations and formats that deliver results to clients on time and on budget.
