  1. Obtain an application form.
  2. Advertise proposed application in any of the approved newspapers and submit this notice with application within 14 days of the advertisement.
  3. Place a Site Notice adjacent to the site.
  4. Attach appropriate documents to application form.
  5. Submit complete application form together with appropriate fee.

Westport Town Council -- Works Programme

The policy complements Transport 21 which recognises the vital importance of continued investment in Transport to ensure an efficient economy and one which promotes more sustainable transport modes such as walking, cycling and use of public transport. In 2009 Westport Town Council was successful in an application for funding from the Department of Transport to upgrade and extend the existing Railway Walk into a high standard Greenway facility.

Green Schools' is an international environmental education process which promotes environmental action and awareness amongst schoolgoers. While many of Westports have achieved their 4th Green Flag, Gaelscoil na Cruaiche and Holy Trinity have started on their 5th Green Flag. Environmental issues move out of the curriculum and into the day-to-day running of the school.


Westport Town Council -- Recycling and Waste Management

There are two main types of recycling facilities in Mayo for use by householders: Recycling bring-banks are located in most towns and villages. There are two such facilities in Mayo: Rathroeen, Killala Road in Ballina and Derrinumera, near Newport Town, on the Castlebar-Newport Road. These are the familiar "bottle banks" and contain facilities where the public can recycle bottles and jars as well as drink cans.


Westport Town Council -- Housing

Capital Assistance Scheme: under this scheme voluntary housing bodies provide accommodation, generally one or two bedroom units, to meet special housing needs such as those of the elderly, disabled, homeless or smaller families. If you have been a tenant of a Local Authority house for at least one year, you may apply to the local authority from which you rent your house to purchase it either outright or by way of shared ownership.
