The variety of eCommerce Application is huge. Ranging from stand-alone applications to plug-ins for existing Blog or CMS Systems. They come as open source or proprietary software, they can be free or very expensive and you can choose to have them hosted or manage them on your own server. And these are only some of the main criteria.
We use, where possible well-documented non-commercial open source software, which has a large developer base. This gives you the following advantages:
- No costs for acquiring the software, which leaves you more budget for adaptations, design and marketing
- You can easily modify the system to your needs.
- You can switch your service provider without much hassle – but of course, you want to work with us.
Stand-alone or plugin?
One question remains “Should I integrate a shop module to my existing CMS or should I choose a stand-alone system?” – If you start from scratch and don’t have a CMS yet, the answer is simple: Use a stand alone system like XTCModified or Magento. If you are using WordPress, Drupal or any other CMS, there are some interesting plugins-available, but not all of them work an most of them do not have the functionality of a stand-alone system. On the other hand, most eCommerce Systems come bundled with pretty decent CMS.
Integrating your Webshop to your POS
If you want to integrate your Point-Of-Sale and your Webshop, you should always use a stand-alone system, as it gives you more flexibility and less trouble during integration.
