About Daffodil Centres

Daffodil Centres are an extension of the Irish Cancer Society’s Cancer Information Service. We provide a wide range of information locally to anyone affected by or concerned about cancer thus supporting them in coping with the impact cancer is having on their lives.

Who uses Daffodil Centres?

Daffodil Centres are open to all, no referral or appointment is necessary. Information, advice and support is provided to cancer patients and their family members or carers.

We also welcome those who have worries about possible cancer symptoms or who want to learn more about reducing the risks of developing cancer. Healthcare professionals also use our service to avail of the information and support available for themselves and for their patients or clients.

Talk to a Cancer Information Service Nurse or specially trained volunteer

Those who visit our Daffodil Centres can ask questions and talk through issues and concerns with a specialist cancer information nurse and specially trained volunteers. Together they take the time to listen and provide information, advice and support tailored to your needs in confidence.

Wide range of information, support and advice available

We understand that the information and support needs of those affected by cancer will vary from person to person. To ensure we meet the needs of our enquirers the information, advice and support on offer in the Daffodil Centres is wide ranging from:

  • Cancer prevention and early detection
  • Information on various types of cancer, treatments and side-effects
  • Details of local and national cancer support services and other appropriate sources of support
  • Finding the right practical help and advice, for example support for carers, and social welfare entitlements, travel to appointments
  • End of life services
  • Adjusting to life after cancer

Enquirers are welcome to browse the many booklets and leaflets we stock or use our internet access point to search through cancer related websites. A nurse or volunteer will be on hand to help you find what you are looking for.
