Kilkenny Green Party Councillor, Malcolm Noonan has commended the Kilkenny Recipient of this year’s Artlinks Bursary, Alison Comerford and said that she has a bright career in Music. In doing so Cllr Noonan also praised the Bursary Scheme as an innovative programme aimed at giving promising young creative practitioners assistance in progressing their ambitions to a higher level.

‘I would like to commend Alison as a worthy recipient of this year’s Kilkenny Bursary. It’s clear that she has a great gift for her music, which was first nurtured by the excellent Music Programme in St Canice’s National School. She has overcome significant challenges in keeping up with her academic work while developing her craft to such a high level that has seen her accepted in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London’.

Cllr Noonan also praised Artlinks for the ongoing work that they do in supporting, facilitating and developing a creative arts network and nurturing environment for artists from all disciplines. ‘Since registering with Artlinks myself over a year ago, I have seen the level of support for artists; musicians, writers, filmmakers and other creative people develop to a very high standard. It is encouraging to feel that I am part of this great network of creative people throughout the region. Often as artists, we can feel isolated in our work, Artlinks has afforded me the opportunity to get to know other artists in my chosen field through workshops and events. It can take many artists out of the insular world of their work and put them on a professional footing towards developing a viable career’.
