RAM Backup Procedure for Sky+/HD Boxes

WARNING : This procedure will delete all programmes saved on you Sky+HD box.

  • Plug out the mains lead at the wall socket or at the back of the Sky box.
  • Press and hold the left and right buttons on the front of the box (NB. on HD boxes these buttons are on the top of the box), see below…

  • Plug the mains lead back in, holding both buttons – keep them held.
  • After approximately 30 seconds the circle of lights will come on (release the buttons now).  See below…

  • Press the select button (see above – on HD boxes this is on the top of the box) and the display will circle backwards a few times.
  • The box will then go into standby.
  • After about 2 minutes the box can be turned back on as normal.

While we have not experienced any problems, it has been suggested that the viewing card is removed from the box before the above procedure.  Simply re-insert the viewing card when the box is turned back on.

Tuning in other channels on your Sky box or Sky+ box

Using the up/down arrows, move the yellow highlight bar down to Symbol Rate, then use the left/right arrows to change the symbol rate. Using the up/down arrows, move the yellow highlight bar down to Polarisation, then use the left/right arrows to change the polarity. Scroll down to SYSTEM SETUP with the arrow keys on your remote, and then press select, or simply press the number 4 key.

To watch the channels you’ve just saved, press the Services button, press the down arrow or Select, then scroll across to OTHER CH and press Select. Using the up/down arrows, move the yellow highlight bar down to Symbol Rate, then use the left/right arrows to change the symbol rate. Using the up/down arrows, move the yellow highlight bar down to Polarisation, then use the left/right arrows to change the polarity.
