This year The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation are appealing to you and your friends to join our SOS (Save our Services) Campaign to help us raise much needed funds by togging out for Jack and Jill and participating in the 2011 Flora Women’s Mini Marathon while also enjoying a great girls fun day out.

…. And to pamper you after supporting us by walking, jogging or running the 10km route Waterford Castle have very kindly given us two weekend breaks to give away….

Each participant who raises €250 or more and returns their sponsorship card by the 31st August 2011 will be entered into a draw to win a fabulous weekend break for two in the luxurious surroundings of Waterford Castle….

Our sincere thanks to everyone who kindly supported Jack and Jill in 2010 by participating in one or some of the many marathons throughout the year.  You helped us to “fill the pail” and raise much needed and so very much appreciated funds.

As we face 2011 in what will be a very challenging year with a serious shortfall in funding, we are appealing more than ever again for your support by togging out for Jack and Jill and joining our SOS (Save Our Services) Campaign to help us achieve the shortfall we need to continue to help and support our babies throughout Ireland.

While the HSE admits that such measures will put extra demand on respite and residential facilities, which we know cost nine times more than home care, there simply are not enough beds available for the potential avalanche of demand. At present, the Foundation cares for over 300 children, but without additional funding, they will have no option but to cut back on the number of hours of nursing they provide.

The Shamrock Fund is an appeal to the Irish Diaspora in the US to help the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation to continue to ensure that no child or their families will ever again face the isolation and desperation that Mary Ann and Jonathan faced back in 1996 when they brought their son Jack home from the hospital.

He and his family has been supported by Jack and Jill until now but unfortunately due to funding restrictions the Foundation cannot continue to care for children like JJ once they reach 4.JJ’s parents and representatives of his medical team will meet with the HSE to see if the help provided by the Foundation until now can be continued through them.

Irelands Number 1 Refuse Sacks and the HSE Community Games joined forces to break a Guinness world record in Athlone on Saturday 20th August and raise funds for the Jack and Jill Foundation. If only half of these families were not able to cope caring for their child at home with the support of Jack & Jill, this would have cost the State over 100 million euro.
