IFCS - Alarm and Response

By: Irish Flood Control Systems  05/12/2011

IFCS can specify, supply and fit a range of alarm systems, suited to flood prone communities. We supply and fit products from Druck, Flowsen, HydroLogic Oriel Systems, Visonic and Greenspan.

An example of a recent installation included a robust remote sensor, outstation and communications package contained on the site of the sensor, connected to a PSTN line. A solar panel was mounted above harm’s way, ensuring against battery failure at the most important time. System benefits were:

  • Proven technology
  • Vandal and weather resistant unit
  • Self-charging (minimal danger of power failure)
  • Multi-level alarm signals
  • Low maintenance
  • Scalable system to handle additional sensors and outstations
  • Capable of remote water-level monitoring

IFCS can advise on a range of different household and commercial alarm systems. These are used by many of the country’s largest developments.

At the bottom end of the market, there are issues of reliability. We are working with suppliers to develop a cost-effective, reliable solution.

IFCS - Surveys

We will liaise with local authorities and planners where necessary to propose a workable, effective solution. We consider historical data, flood risk, points of ingress, ergonomic needs and innovative approaches. A comprehensive survey by IFCS professionals is the best way to assess your flood defence needs.

IFCS - Alternatives to sandbags

Absorbeez water absorbent materials are new and combine advanced technology with experience, to produce high capacity water absorbent bags and sheets that are super handy. Simply unscrew the FloodWater Bag nozzle and drain the polymer-activated water onto the ground, where it will dissipate in a matter of days. The nature of their expansion means FloodBags pack tightly against one another to form a flood wall.

IFCS - Emergency Kits

Emergency Kits can be upgraded with: additional, or bespoke door barriers; standalone Ventguards; greater quantities of WallShield, perimeter sealant and Emergency Gel. IFCS has developed a comprehensive Emergency Kit which addresses the need for a "whole house" solution in the most cost effective manner possible. Specialist, easy-to-use gun for applying sealant and gel from environmentally friendly foil packs, with 3 nozzles.

IFCS - On-site surveys

For a community group, IFCS can advise on larger scale projects which can protect groups of houses and larger areas against flooding. The fee for an IFCS survey, which includes a comprehensive report, is dependent upon the scale and location of your property. These include community alarm systems, permanent works and demountable flood defences. Any preparatory work required to improve the imperviousness of walls.
