Linear Heat Detection (LHD) is a line-type form of fixed temperature heat detection used in common commercial and industrial environments. This linear cable can detect a fire anywhere along its entire length and is available in multiple temperatures.

You begin with any new or existing fire alarm control panel which will be used for monitoring the Linear Heat Detection system. If required, the optional distance locating module may be connected directly to the fire alarm panel or addressable module. Leader wires are then connected to the distance locating module and run in conduit to the hazard zone where they are connected to the beginning of the Linear Heat Detection cable run. Linear Heat Detection cable may also be connected directly to the distance locating module without using leader wires.

A Junction Box is used at the beginning of each zone where the leader wires are connected to the Linear Heat Detection cable using a Screw Terminal. The Linear Heat Detection cable exits the J-Box through a moisture proof Strain Relief Connector which seals the enclosure. Immediately after exiting the J-Box, a 6 inch (15cm) loop is made in the cable to allow for expansion and contraction. Mounting hardware which allows the Linear Heat Detection cable to freely expand and contract is placed every 3 – 5 ft. (1 – 1.5 m). Several types of Linear Heat Detection cable mounting hardware are available which are specifically designed for different types of hazards.

Linear Heat Detection cable may be spaced a maximum of 35 feet (10.7 meters) between runs and half the listed spacing from any sidewall. If it is an integral part of a pre-action sprinkler system, it may be strapped to the sprinkler pipe using double loop mounting straps. At the end of each zone, another expansion/contraction loop is made before entering the End of Line Resistor-Box through another Strain Relief Connector. The End of Line Resistor, supplied by your panel manufacturer, is then connected to the Linear Heat Detection cable using another Screw Terminal. It’s that easy.

Linear Heat Detection cable does not require you to purchase any expensive proprietary panels that require additional maintenance and cost. Simply add Linear Heat Detection cable to your existing conventional panel, or add a contact monitor module to your existing addressable system.

Services | Horizon Safety

The “responsible person” is the person/s who owns or controls the business and/or the owner of the property in the case of multi-occupied buildings and it is their responsibility to ensure that a regular Fire Safety Audit is carried out. In order to ensure compliance with the Fire Services Acts 1981 & 2003, the fire safety within an organisation should be assessed in accordance with fire safety guidance documents and codes of practice.

The benefits of the graphics are confidence and peace of mind with a secure system, no individual dependency as the system offers the option of multiple users, flexibility and shared responsibility with the advantage of multiple PC workstations.

Fire Supression Systems | Horizon Safety

The Fire Suppression Systems which we offer are clean agent fire extinguishants, safe for people, electrically nonconductive, noncorrosive and free of residue. In fact, for the same amount of protection, FM-200® systems take up to seven times less storage space than systems based on CO2 and inert gases. Many fire suppression systems can cause major damage to – and even destroy – the very things they are supposed to protect.

Aspirating Systems | Horizon Safety

The detector is configurable for a variety of environments, providing an ideal fire detection solution for power stations, telecommunications and IT facilities, clean rooms, warehouses, cold storage, harsh and hazardous areas, historic buildings and museums.

The event list provides a simple summary of all current events and their type, when they occurred, location, status and allows you to classify each event according to it’s nature, i.e. nuisance alarm due to burnt toast, dirty detector or emergency exit door having been accidently left open.

Gas Detection System | Horizon Safety

Horizon Safety Systems specialise in the supply and maintenance of fixed and portable gas detection systems, for the detection of flammable gases, asphyxiate and toxic gases for personnel and process plant protection. We also specialise in providing comprehensive service and maintenance solutions on gas detection systems, whether they are our installed products, or other manufacturers products.

Fire Extinguishment | Horizon Safety

This coupled with the fact that they have a conductivity rating of 35kV means that although not designed for use on electrical fires – this extinguisher resists electricity. Horizon Safety Systems also offer a full range of fire extinguishing equipment, from the hand held portable fire extinguisher to the fire hose reels.
