breaking pretraining

By: Grove Stud  05/12/2011

Grove Stud takes in yearlings for clients after the sales and before going into training. Most of our clients like us to pre-train the horses as opposed to sending them on soon after they are ridden. Consequently the horses leave here when they are ready for serious training. The obvious early types will go in February onwards while some may not be ready for fast work until August.

Owners are confident that they are giving their horse every chance by taking this more patient route. We also feel that we have the facilities, staff and skilled farrier and veterinary backup to cope with any problems.

Almost every leading trainer in Ireland and England has had a Grove Stud graduate including stakes horses Azleem, Lahaleeb, Staying On, Prince of Light and Laureldene Gale.

“Grove Stud horses are consistently well prepared and conditioned and set a very high standard of care and management.”

We are involved all year round with these studs assessing the stock, discussing their programme and choosing the correct sale for each horse.
