A level of consultancy on priority governance issues is provided without charge to member organisations. This benefit can be used in a number of ways, including board induction, audit committee training and advice on specific governance topics. Member organisations may avail of further consulting services at a significant discount.
A regular series of workshops on current governance topics is convened based on needs identified by members and current wider governance issues. These themes have included board evaluation, regulation, risk management and the characteristics of effective committees.
The conferences feature expert speakers addressing key themes of interest, with opportunities for member networking and discussion.
Round Table Discussions
These events bring together individuals with specific governance responsibilities to discuss issues and to share good practice. In 2009 these included round tables for Board Secretaries and for Audit Committee Chairpersons.
The Governance Forum website makes available presentations and reports on topics that a board member / governing body member is likely to require. Organisations that become members of the Forum nominate the directors and the executives they wish to have access to the site. Features of the website include the provision of induction material which can be accessed at a time and location to suit. There are also useful checklists on governance topics.
