Low Energy & Passive House Construction

So why would you want to build your new home without taking this into consideration. Energy efficient construction starts on the ‘drawing table’, and then in the foundations. ‘Do it right… do it once!’

We can accurately calculate the space heating demand, and energy consumption of your new home, long before you start building. We do this by using our PHPP (Passive-House Planning Package) software, (which is registered with the Passiv-Haus institute in Darmstadt, Germany). We can then make changes to the design which will make enormous differences to these results. If you come to us first, this process is a lot easier because we can orientate your home to make the best use of solar gain. By using more up to date building methods, and paying extreme attention to details, we can bring your house to any energy rating you like, right up to Passive-House standards.

If you are hoping to self-build, we can accommodate this too. We can just build what we call the ‘thermal envelope’ and hand it over for you to finish out, giving you the chance to put your stamp on it. You will have the comfort of knowing that it is built well, and will be easy to keep warm. As we are a HomeBond guaranteed company you will also have a 10 year structural guarantee.

We will be posting more about Passive-house principles soon.

Retrofitting | Enervate

This involves the fixing of insulation to the outside of your house, and then applying a basecoat render, with a layer of fibre mesh and finally a finish coat of render to the colour of your choice. This involves changing your existing oil or gas boiler with a condensing boiler, which uses the fuel much more efficiently, and improving the way in which it is controlled.

Air-tight Systems | Enervate

This ensures optimum protection for all fibrous insulating materials in all constructions, whether they are vapour diffusion permeable or vapour diffusion resistant externally such as pitched roofs with bitumen sheeting or metal sheet roofing, flat roofs and walls with a diffusion resistant exterior cladding.

Insulated Foundations | Enervate

Building, literally on three unique properties of EPS; high compressive strength combined with extremely low water absorption and excellent insulating values, the load bearing walls and floor slab of your building sit on top of the insulating layer practically eliminating heat loss to the ground.
