A window with a hinged sash that swings in or out like a door comprising either a side-hung, top-hung (also called "awning window"), or occasionally bottom-hung sash or a combination of these types, sometimes with fixed panels on one or more sides of the sash. The whole wing is opening outwards with the mode of swing for cleaning from inside.
In this type of window the opening system works as follows:
- Side hung casement window

The window opens outwards only. It is useful in the following cases:
Closed sash is pushed into the frame clump when there are strongly blowing winds,
Opening sash does not occupy any interior room because it opens outwards.
