Health Level Seven (HL7) provides standards for interoperability that improve care delivery,
optimizes workflow, reduce ambiguity and enhance knowledge transfer among different stakeholders,
including healthcare providers, government agencies and software providers.
The HL7 standard is managed by the HL7 International organization.
The HL7 message protocol standard allows various health-care systems
to communicate with each other using an industry standard message structures.
HL7 is currently the selected standard for the interfacing
of clinical data between software systems in most healthcare providers.
