MacDonagh Junction is one of the most significant provincial developments undertaken in recent times and created a significant economic and employment boost to Kilkenny and its environs. The scheme involved the assembly of a number of land parcels, negotiations with CIE and Kilkenny County Council with a view to successfully incorporating them as development partners.
The integration of a number of here to for run down historical and protected structures will serve as a focal point in this attractive mixed use scheme.
The negotiations with the Railway Authority included the construction of an underpass giving access to the underground car park. This involved a ‘cut & cover’ process of the railway tracks within the operational time slots as specified in the Enabling Works documents.
This Mixed Use development on a site of under 8 acres, when completed, will include retail, residential, multi storey car park, hotel, community uses (IAP site) and leisure facilities.
The role included ongoing discussions with the Local Authority and their representatives for the inclusion in the scheme of Art Galleries, Museums and other community uses as required under the IAP regulations.
