About Sue Perrott Saddlery
Horses have been a major part of my life. I now ride mainly for pleasure and have little time to compete, but it keep’s me fit and happy. I still make time to teach which I really enjoy and I have been teaching with Duhallow Pony Club since I first qualified as an Instructor with The British Horse Society. I don’t like to admit it but that is nearly thirty years ago.
I have had a love and passion for horses all my life since I started riding at the age of nine and hold very fond memories and much appreciation to many people but a few I have to mention.
Mrs Maureen Cantillon who I learned and worked with for most of my school going years and will never forget her never ending work for the Disabled riders, she is very sadly missed and her well known daughter former Competitor for Ireland in Eventing and a former Irish Chef D’Equirp in Eventing Mrs. Helen Cantillon O’Keeffe. With them I developed my love for eventing.
I was lucky enough to work and train with Mr. John Sheddon in Gloustershire , He was the first person ever to win Badminton the famous British 3 Day Event. And with Klaus Eisen a Master Dressage Rider I gained experience beyond my wildest dreams and developed my great love for dressage. With Klaus I had the opportunity to ride his Grand Prix Horse “Hadu ” and was able to learn and perfect the ability to ride all the movements necessary for the highest level of dressage.
I competed in Eventing and Dressage in Ireland, Switzerland and England. I did a great deal of showing both with Ponies as a child and later with horses. I competed a horse Klaus had trained to Prix St. George level “St Olans” and many of my own horses at various levels in Dressage and Eventing.
I have worked in the horse industry for most of my life, in various yards and a Saddlery, and ran my own training and livery yard for years. My daughters both ride and are members of Duhallow Pony Club. In 2009 my eldest daughter competed on the Irish Evneting Pony team, representing her country in Belgium at The European Eventing Championships.
