Technical Notes:

Surface roughness measurements for EnBIO’s OsteoZip™ surface are
compared to a number of other similar and typical orthopedic implant
surfaces (blank titanium, titanium grit blasted with Al2O3, titanium grit blasted
with MCD - apatitic grit, titanium CoBlasted with Al2O3 and HA, and titanium
plasma sprayed with HA)  

SEM images of the OsteoZip™ surface were compared to a number of other
similar and typical orthopedic implant surfaces: bare titanium, titanium grit
blasted with Al2O3, titanium grit blasted with MCD - apatitic grit, titanium
CoBlasted with Al2O3 and HA, and titanium plasma sprayed with HA

EnBIO: CoBlast™ - Osteoconductive Surface Technology

EnBIO's in-vivo (animal trials) and in-vitro experiments completed to-date and the data from them confirm that an OsteoZip™ surface has better bone fixation than any other osteoconductive surface. This technology will also be of interest to dental implant manufacturers where there is less adoption of HA coating and more traditionally a focus on the use of roughening technologies.

OsteoZapTM is designed to prevent infection and biofilm formation on orthopaedic implants such as hips and knees, trauma devices, and spinal and dental implants by combining long-term infection prevention and anti-colonization functionality with the osteointegration benefits of EnBIO’s OsteoZip surfaces. OsteoZap is an apatitic/bioceramic surface optimized to be antimicrobial.

EnBIO: CoBlast™ - Drug Delivery Surface

The drug cannot elute at concentrations less than the Minimum Effective Concentration in the case of antibiotics. Few hours (e.g. as a burst of antibiotics for infection control in the immediate time after the surgery. EnBIO's third offering is a drug eluting surface for metallic medical implants. The initial draft specification has three main components. Possibility of eluting a broad range of drugs. Work on this is ongoing.
