Bonded Bead
Bonded Bead Insulation Products
Bonded Bead is an expanded polystyrene bead made under strict quality control procedures to satisfy the increasing demand for lightweight, waterproof, solid and trouble free insulation material.
ENVIROBEAD is one of the leading cavity wall insulation beads on offer. Envirobead has a constant density that produces a natural matrix between the beads which in turn creates a drainage passage. Envirobead resists the effect of gravity and does not settle ensuring that these qualities are maintained. Envirobead uses a durable adhesive to bind the beads together and maintains a ventilated cavity. The thermal conductivity of Envirobead is 0.033w/m k.
Envirobead use a two stage expansion process and the beads are cured overnight. Quality assessments are constantly being carried out to ensure the high quality of the bead is always maintained.
Cavity Wall
Cavity Wall Insulation
ENVIROBEAD insulation reduces heat loss, making your house warmer or reducing the amount of fuel required to maintain a comfortable temperature. Apart from saving money, insulation is a major contributor to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas.
Many houses built over the past number of years have no cavity wall insulation or have an empty cavity with a dry lining slab on the inside of external walls. The empty cavity can be filled using Envirobead Cavity Wall Insulation improving the houses’ ability to retain heat greatly.
The Envirobead installation process is very simple. There are a series of 22mm holes (about the size of a two euro coin) drilled strategically in the external walls. The Envirobead is pumped in at these points with an adhesive added at the point of entry. When the bead installation is finished, the holes are filled with cement and a dye is used where necessary. After installation, there are realistic savings of 35%-40% of heat loss and a payback time of between two and three years.
FAQs Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I know if my house is suitable?
A. A surveyor will inspect your house to determine suitability.
Q. How long does it take to install?
A. Most homes will be completed in between two and three hours.
Q. Is there a guarantee with Envirobead Cavity Wall Insulation?
A. Yes. There is a 25 year guarantee with Envirobead Cavity Wall Insulation.
Q. At what stage will the walls of my new home be insulated?
A. Once the roof is on, the windows are in place and the ESB meter box and cable
is fitted.
Q. Are Envirobead and Warmcell products certified?
A. Yes. Both products are IAB certified.
Q. What is Pumped Cavity Insulation?
A.Pumping the insulation into the cavity through holes drilled in the outer surface.
Q. In addition to a warmer home and lower fuel bills, are there other benefits?
A. Yes. Many householders suffer from black mould growth on bedroom walls, (this
tends to occur mostly in bungalows). The mould occurs due to the coldness of
the wall but after insulation it will no longer appear.
Q. Why does mould growth form mainly on bedroom walls, and why is it worse
behind furniture, in corners and in wardrobes?
A. Mould growth occurs when warm moist air meets a cold surface. The coldest
walls in a bungalow are the bedroom walls and these walls (external) are at their
coldest where there is bad circulation e.g. in low corners, behind furniture and
in wardrobes.
Q. Do the independent Agrement Boards (BBA & IAB) support your claim that the
system cannot cause damp penetration?
A. Yes. On their Certificates they state the following:
Bonded beads will not transmit water across the cavity or from below the Damp
Proof Course Level.
After a period of 20 years, no failure of this product has been reported.
Q. Why Spray Foam Insulation? NEW!
A. Spray Foam insulation is ideal for insulating new build homes and attic
conversions and commercial shops and factories insulation applications. It is
easily applied to the inside of walls and roof areas.
