Aoibhneas, Dublin - A refuge from domestic violence for women and children

By: Aoibhneas  05/12/2011

We offer a 24 hour confidential helpline service for women who are looking for information about aspects of their current situation.  Aoibhneas works within the Children First Guidelines.

There are ten self-contained family units within the refuge, providing safe crisis accommodation.

This service offers a safe confidential space for you to talk and work through your difficulties with a trained staff member who will provide:

- practical and emotional support
- information, advocacy and referrals to appropriate services
- court accompaniment and preparation
- post refuge support

Our outreach worker can be accessed through:
- Mobile: 086 8239550 or (01) 8670701
- 9am - 5pm

We have experienced, qualified Childcare workers and a Childcare Leader, who provide a safe playroom environment where children are supported and encouraged to express their feelings.

Resident’s have 24 hour, seven days a week,  access to trained staff members, who provide emotional support and information, help with exploring options, and who empower women to make the decision that feels right for them as individuals.

You will receive practical help and information on legal, financial and housing issues.  You will also be assisted in creating your own personal safety plan in the event you have to leave your home quickly.

Emotional support is a basic necessity when someone finds themselves in a crisis.  Resident’s or helpline callers will receive confidential support from staff (limited confidentiality applies regarding child protection issues) with in-depth knowledge on the complexity of abusive relationships.  You will be listened to and understood by staff who are non-judgemental.
