Doonbeg (Co. Clare) launce new food range under the title of "The Lodge Kitchen at Doonbeg"
Doonbeg, the award winning County Clare resort is to launch a collection of artisan food products under the title “The Lodge Kitchen at Doonbeg”. The new range which features many locally sourced ingredients has been created by Doonbeg’s executive head chef, Wade Murphy and his team.
The products which include chutneys, jams and Christmas fare such as cakes, puddings, mulled wine and gingerbread men, will be sold at Brown Thomas Limerick. They will also be sold directly from Doonbeg and at its highly successful Christmas market which takes place in the courtyard at Doonbeg in early December.
Commenting on the launch Wade Murphy said that the inspiration for “The Lodge Kitchen at Doonbeg” came from a number of different sources.
“In the first instance there were our guests who time and again commented positively on our in-house chutneys and jams for instance. Then there was the success of our Christmas market which has attracted huge crowds over the past two years. While we have featured a number of products at the Christmas market these were limited but nevertheless pointed the way to what we see as a real opportunity.”
“We researched the idea quite extensively and we were delighted with the response. It was a new challenge for our culinary team and they were delighted to embrace it. Happily we have excellent local ingredients which we already use extensively in our kitchens and which will now feature in this new collection.”
