Dine In Dublin - October 24th to October 30th

New to this season’s Dine in Dublin offering is a wider selection of set price-points per person, with menus priced at either €15, €20, €25 or €30 (including tea & coffee) in participating restaurants, guaranteeing savings of at least 20% on á la carte prices.

Joining in on the celebrations will be some of the city’s finest hotels, offering discounts on overnight stays so that diners can relax into the evening with all the city has to offer. Adding to the host of ways to save money as you eat out, Park Rite is offering a discounted evening rate of €3 in selected Park Rite car parks from 6pm to close and a lunchtime offer of a 2nd hour free, which is 50% reduction on a 2 hour visit. Richard Guiney, CEO of Dublin City BID, has high hopes for the week, saying, “We’re thrilled to be providing people with another opportunity to experience Dublin’s culinary wonders. Now more than ever, diners are looking for value for money and with Dine in Dublin’s unique price offerings, they’ll get to savour some of the city’s finest dishes at a fraction of the price. With our online booking system, we’ve made it even easier for people to go out and sample the best of this wonderful city.”

Adding to this, Adrian Cummins from the Restaurant Association of Ireland said, “Dine in Dublin is a great way of reminding people what an array of options we have for eating out in the city. With the four set price options, there’s something to suit all budgets and I think that the food on offer will also suit all tastes. We’re delighted to be involved in the initiative and look forward to seeing people tuck in next week.”

I spotted these guys coming across the bridge before lunchtime, on their way to set up for hourly threshing demos on the quay side, the product from which you could by as well. With the feed and a coffee out of the way, it was time for a pint, one of the perks of taking the train and not driving down so I settled in for a pint of Metalman Pale Ale.

Roundup - Any Given Food

Going back to the headcold, likely something I picked up on the bike having cycled from Kilkenny to Sligo this weekend (Kilkenny to Athlone on Friday, Athlone to Sligo yesterday), if anyone has any suggestions for fixes or remedies, I’ve a press here full of garlic, honey, random herbs, spirits, the lot. Today’s Foodie Roundup, the 35th overall, comes to you between a head cold and the Ireland v Russia game in the Rugby World Cup.
